First time?
Bring nothing.
We have spares.
You do not need a telescope. We bring ours, plus binoculars that get passed around. The best first night is the one where you just show up.
Dress for winter, even in July. Observing sites sit high and get cold once the sun is gone. Long sleeves, a jacket, and closed shoes.
Keep the white light off. Eyes need about twenty minutes to adapt to the dark, and one phone screen resets everybody. Red light only — that is why red runs through everything we make, the logo included.
